The files that you need to edit are the following: /etc/hosts /etc/sysconfig/network
In /etc/hosts,you can use this line: 127.0.0.1 vectra.localdomain localhost vectra The hostname generated by the command 'hostname' is not permanent. It is stored in '/proc/sys/kernel/hostname' which disappears the next time you reboot.
