This is false. There is no gcc 3.1 yet, and no Red Hat modified 3.0.3

It's 2.96RH, it's our own branch.

Bad advise, as 2.96RH has fewer bugs, better C++ conformance, better
code generation overall and is compatible with Red Hat Linux 7.1. Gcc
2.95 isn't.
