Thanks for the reference - it is the O'Reilly book that I will be going 
after, baed on reputation and recommendation.

Well my understanding is that up till recently they've been completely 
separate.

Not long ago I asked the dumb fool question - "how can you keep a dns 
server up to date with IP info, when, by definition it keeps changing?"

Then I really got a dirty look when I suggested that dns and dhcp should be 
provided by the same daemon, or at least a dns server should be able to 
nose around in a dhcp server's files.

It seems there's some work going on putting them together. Does anyone know 
about that?
