You should have a file in /etc/X11/gdm/Sessions/ as:

        Fvwm

and then you should be able to select your fvwm session on the session login
panel.

if you lack Fvwm, then edit this into it:

        #!/bin/bash

        exec /etc/X11/xdm/Xsession fvwm

set permissions as 755, and that should do it
