Ease off a little Ben.  Just let it set awhile.  My first go round
with linux about late 1996 I had a linux box with no network for mnths
before I got it to work.  I must have reinstalled 4.1 and 4.2 at least
20 times each.  (At least a dozen).  Reinstall is the standard fix for
people who don't know what they are doing.  I reinstalled every
release repeated up to about 6.2 before I started to see how to fix
things.

My linux career continued along that line for several years before I
began to catch on.  I'm still a dummy about many things.  There may
not be many on this list anymore that were there back then and
remember my long and continuous posting of every possible question.
Many times repeating things ad infinitum.

I think you just tried too many things too quick.  Take a break and
come back with a new attitude.
