Probably not the suggetion you expect to get on a RedHat list; but my
experience with different distros (more than 8 years) is telling me that
you need either Slackware or Debian.
If the system is to be developed and deployed, and you don't care about
keeping it up to date (e.g. not connected to the 'Net), Slackware
probably gives you the smallest footprint.
If you need to have package management (that Slackware doesn't provide),
then go for Debian. The footprint is probably a bit more than Slackware,
but still way smaller than RedHat. If you have got RedHat down to around
140MB, my gut feeling is that you can get Debian in way less than 100MB.
Just my A$0.02 (these days Aussie dollar doesn't worth much anyway :-( )
