The default rpm install of autorpm will only notify (mail to root) of
packages that need updating. Then, in interactive mode you can pick the
rpms that you want it to download and install. I haven't tried to
configure it otherwise, but from the config file it looks like you can get
it to do almost anything (download but *not* install, yes). I mostly use
it as a notifier of what needs to be done at this time.

My intention is to use it to download but not install on one machine, then
other machines on my network can use this as their source for updating if
I approve the update by moving the approved rpms to a certain directory.
(If only there was enough time to actualize all my intentions)

I don't know, but I've seen nothing to rule that out except getting
access to the RH site due to load restrictions. Autorpm lets you pick
which mirrors you want it to query.
