There is already some work being done in that front.  Some people are
porting the apt-get tool from Debian to adapt it to the RPM package management
system.  Some others (Ximian) are working on Red Carpet.  Eazel may also
be working on something.  Then, there are some tools that could also do
the job: up2date, rpmfind...

I'm glad you liked Red Hat Linux after all.  I installed it 4 years ago
for the first time, and have been running it ever since.  It's become my
main operating system both at work and at home.
