having a problem installing the newest version of up2date under 6.2. i've been
following redhat's procedures but keep coming up with the same problem.

per there doc, to upgrade up2date i need to do the following:

 rpm -i --test up2date-2.1.7-0.6.x.i386.rpm up2date-gnome-2.1.7-0.6.x.i386.rpm
python-xmlrpc-1.2.1-0.6.x.i386.rpm python-1.5.2-27.6.x.i386.rpm
rhn_register-1.0.2-0.6.x.noarch.rpm rhn_register-gnome-1.0.2-0.6.x.noarch.rpm
rpm-4.0.1-0.6x.i386.rpm rpm-python-4.0.1-0.6x.i386.rpm
error: failed dependencies:
        libdb-3.1.so is needed by rpm-4.0.1-0.6x
        libdb-3.1.so is needed by rpm-python-4.0.1-0.6x

after a little looking around i found where libdb-3 lives, db3-3.1.17-5.i386.rpm

but when i try to install this rpm i get the following messages:
rpm -i --test db3-3.1.17-5.i386.rpm
only packages with major numbers <= 3 are supported by this version of RPM
error: db3-3.1.17-5.i386.rpm cannot be installed

any ideas where i should go from here ?

thanks.......jim mc......
