Look in your modem docs, and figure out what AT command changes the escape
code.  Change it to something like charactor number 254, and then escape
that charactor in your PPP config.  The default escape charactor for most
modems is three escape caractors in a row.  (+++)  They are supposed to be
preseeded by and followed by at least 1 second of silence (no charactors),
but a lot of cheeper modems do not follow this.  It may be possable to
escape the plus sign in your PPP config, but I have never tried to do it.
