I don't know if that would work. I just would not try that. Magnetic tapes
are pretty different physically when compared to hard drives. Tapes are
mostly only tape. HDDs have electronic circuits, loaded capacitors and can
be affected by static electricity.

Can't tell anyway. I wouldn't take the risk to try.
