Sorry for the tardy reply... too much happening in my life the past couple
of months.
If I'm not mistaken, there's nothing wrong with your ppp connection at
all. Your ppp connection was established. If you still have this setup,
or if you want to see if your current setup is working, just go to an
xterm and ping your primary nameserver's IP address. (This is a piece of
information you should have entered as part of your ppp setup. If you
don't know what this is, then you'll have to find out before you'll have a
fully functional internet connection. Ask here if you need help with
this.)

You were connected! Most likely, your ISP has a timeout on your
connection; that is, if there's no activity for some period of time, it'll
automatically disconnect you. Most ISPs do this. It's probably why your
connection terminated (i.e., Exit).
As you're connection is working, you don't have to be concerned with the
stuff below.
