very briefly, to set up a PPP *server*, you need to install the mgetty package, and configure /etc/inittab to listen on the appropriate serial port, with something like ppp1:345:respawn:/sbin/mgetty ttyS1 or something like that. you also have to muck with the mgetty config file, /etc/mgetty+sendfax/login.conf file. go wild. rday -- "This is Microsoft technical support.
