I completely agree about the RAM - people totally underestimate how important RAM is 
these days. When I first got into computers that was all people talked about - more 
ways to get RAM - I remember that we always filled all the slots on our mainboards. 
Now most people buy one stick and shrug the rest away - very bad idea.

RAM, RAM, RAM.

The second thing is, if you're gong to be doing things like file serving (as in http 
downloads) SQL/DB stuff, dynamic pages, or media streaming, you simply _muist_ pay the 
extra for SCSI hard drives. I talk to people all the time who refuse to belive that 
you *really* get more performance out of a SCSI disk then you do from a ATA one, but 
let me promise you, you'll notice the difference. Think "at least 2 if not 3 times as 
fast" compared to the average 7200 RPM ATA 66 hard drive.
