Basically, Samba emulates the Windows NetBIOS protocol in such a way that
when you open your Windows Neighborhood in the Windows box you will see
the Linux box there as if is it a regular Windows system. However, as
Uncle Meat pointed out this only works if they are in different boxes.
So, in order to fix your problem you can always mount the Windows
partition when you are running Linux... although Windows will not allow
you to do anything similar with Linux. Other than that, if you need to
run both on the same box at the same time you should go for VMWare or
something similar. VMWare is a commercial product though. There is also
an opensource FreeMWare project, but it is under development and not
really usable yet.
