Stephen,
        Run cfdisk on the drive from Linux, and check the partation type
for the Windows partation.  If it is the wrong type, Windows will not see
it,  but Linux will still mount it as long as the information in
/etc/fstab is valid, and the actual file system on the disk matches what
it expects.   System Commanders used this trick to let you have more then
one Windows partation on the same drive.  (Windows 3.1,, Windows 95, and
Windows 98 on the same system, all with their own drive C:.)
