I have Ali chipset and hardly have any problem with it. My system is a K6-2
with Ali Alladdin in Asus P5A and works great. My wife has PII with a good
ole' 440BX in Asus P3B-F. I once thought of swapping motherboards but since
my P5A has been good so I decided not to bother. I much prefer Intel
chipsets because they had been making good chipsets up until they come up
with i810, i820 garbages which i820 requires mth hub to be able to
communicate with PC-100 old ram. It's crap since to get a performance boost
to using rimm is too expensive for little gain and performance loss using
the mth translator hub. I stay away from it myself and stay with 440bx. I
found in Tom's Hardware website shows that overclocked 440bx smoked i820 in
most test but only failed the AGP intensive apps because 440bx only runs 2x
and i820 runs 4x. So I am for now off to different brand until Intel comes
up with something reasonable and reliable. I too am not trying to put a
flame.:-)
