I have ordered a VA Linux 420 system with a 10x/4x/32x max CD-RW SCSI
Drive and Narrow SCSI Kit. Right now I am running an old Dell Dimsension
XPS Pro 200n with an external HP SureStore Tape 2000 with an AHA-2940
single PCI SCSI Intl.
Having never had to deal with more than one SCSI device before, I am
looking for advice on how to configure my system. How do I install the
external HP SureStore? Do I install the PCI SCSI Intl card and will it
conflict with the Narrow SCSI Kit? Presumably the CD-RW drive is
terminated, so what will I have to do to get both devices working
together? Do I just simply slap in the PCI SCSI card and set the ID on
the back of the SureStore to something other than 3 (where it is set
now) and not 0 or 7? I suspect it is more complicated than that. (The VA
Linux 420 has 5 PCI slots).
Any advice appreciated. I am feeling kind of dumb about this.
