Maybe I am missing out on one of the features of mrtg, but I do not
believe that mrtg breaks down the traffic on a port by port basis.  It
will tell you how much traffic you have over a particiular network
connection, but it cannot tell me how much traffic is, say, pop3, imap
or http.

how about argus, ntop, darkstat, iptraf, etc... they should do plenty for you. gene
