Hummm . . . this depends on what you plan to run on the computer. If
your computer is going to be a workstation running StarOffice, Netscape,
Xmail, etc. then the following would be sufficient:
Celeron 500 or Pentium 500 with 66 or 100 Mhz Bus
128 MB 100Mhz SDRAM
4 - 10 GB EIDE Hard Drive
CD-ROM, DVD, or CD-RW Drive
3.5" Distette Drive

Firewall, yes. Print server, not recommended. A firewall, given it's
job, should not be used for anything else.

Why? Is there something not supported on your old 386? I would suggest
that you load the kernel sources and recompile to take advantage of the
older hardware but other than that, it should run without a problem
given standard, if old, hardware. I hope! ;->
