The model of startup scripts is old, based on AT&T System V. It is used
by many modern UNIX variants - SunOS 5.x ('Solaris'), HP-UX 10.x/11.x,
etc. RedHat merely models this rather than the Berkeley style of startup
scripts. Once you get used to it, it is more powerful and flexible than
the Berkeley model.
