Hi,

You may have to try a different Adaptec card. I had an Adaptec 7850 on
board scsi that refused to work reliably. I eventually just put in a
different Adaptec controller. I do not think that Linux supports the 7800
series Adaptec cards very well.

cheers,

ski

Subject: Adaptec AIC7xxx Problems

Hi,

Have a Tyan S1836 mb with onboard SCSI; AIC 7895. I just installed RH 6.1
on it, and it detected the hard drives & cdrom running off the scsi
controller and works great.

I then compiled kernel 2.2.14 on it, using the same SCSI module (tried it
both compiled AND module) and it panics at boot with 0 scsi hosts
detected.

I've tried using the module with "options aix7xxx io=E400h irq=10" in
conf.modules which were the same resources shown in NT before I put it
down :) but nothing worked.

Any ideas on this? Not making me look good since the RAID controller
already didnt work so we pulled it out. :\

Thanks in advance!

        Bryan
