OpenSSL install fails -- crypto objects...

Hello All,

I'm a bumbler in the world of Linux thus far.  I'm trying to install, OpenSSL, for 
OpenSSH, 
etc.  I get a bunch of error messages when I do the make install.  under the 
crypto/objects directory I get a long list of undeclared variables.

Any ideas?  perhaps my RPM had something missing?
