Bob,
We've used PowerEdge 2300 servers for a couple of years now with AMI
RAID controllers. We mirror ( Raid-1) the system disk and use RAID-5
on the data disks. In that time we lost one system disk. It was
interesting to remove a system disk from a machine and see it
continue to operate. Then replace the disk and it is aotomatically
rebuilt. We installed Linux ourselves, currently Redhat-6.1.
I'd certainly recommend them.
Regards,
Tony.
