I've found it very common for people to believe that because an address
is in the "class A" address space, it must be part of a class A network
(ie 2^24 hosts).  This just isn't so, particularly now /19s are being
allocated out of 64/8.  For that reason I try to discourage them from
thinking in terms of class A/B/C and just to consider chunks of address
space.
