bell atlantic uses ppp over ethernet (pppoe) which requires you to send a
user-name and a passwd. it is like an ordinary dialup modem, in a sense....
i think i might need to use pppoe but i could be wrong. i tried the dhcp
stuff but that did not help. i think i almost have it i just need to know
how to assign the ip to the card and how to load the ethernet card on
boot-up.

unfortunately the modem they provide us with is just a single machine
setup, in order to use it with multiple you have to use some sort of
ip-masking software....

=>
=>
=>when i first got dsl set up Bell Atlantic was giving out static ip's.
=>recently two of my friends decided to get dsl, but BA stuck them with
=>dynamic ip's over pppoe. BA provides support for windows and MAC OS, but
=>not for linux... i am pretty sure that the same can been done by using one

=>is how is this set up. has anyone been able to set this up to work
=>properly??? i have gone through the setup and read all of the faq's and

=>anything up that works. how do i set up eth0 to take the ip that is giving
=>to it from the BA dhcp server, this machine will be running ip-masqudering
=>so any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
