How far have you looked into the USB aspect of this? The RH stock
kernels have no USB support, and most work being done is in 2.3.x.,
though there seems to be some experimental USB stuff available in
kernels >= 2.2.7.
You might see if you can get a non-USB model. Mine runs off a NIC, and
I think this is a far more common setup. Some USB sites:
