I haven't read my mail for a couple of days, so I just hit this thread.

Steve Borho has just about got the answer in his last message. Red
Hat's kernel has updated RAID code! :) The new raid code hasn't been
put into the stock kernel, because the superblock has changed. Raid
sets built with the new code will not be useable by kernels with old
RAID code, and visa-versa (AFAIK).

If you don't have the kernel src.rpm from Red Hat, download it. Extract
it, and you will find the updated RAID patch. Once you've applied that,
you should be able to build a kernel that will work on your system.

Alternatively, you can get kernel rpms from
ftp://duke.eburg.com/pub/linux/redhat-6.x-mycontrib . Built from Red
Hat's kernel, they have the same RAID code. I've added some things you
may find interesting, like USB, IDE updates (you can do UDMA on your
ABit BP-6) and 2.2.15-pre2, which fixes some really irritating TCP
bugs. (Ever notice a whole mess of identd processes hanging around, or
ftp downloads that hang when they finish?)

And if you're gung-ho on building your own kernel, but you're still
interested in some of the updates/fixes, get the
kernel-{source,headers}-2.2.14-4.i386.rpm and install them.

Hope that helps you out.
