This is what I was going to suggest too.  In case you are a REAL newbie
and wondering, the ports begin with 0 not 1.  /dev/ttyS1 = COM2.  Simple
stuff like that drove me crazy when I was trying to figure out something
adn just when I thought I had it, I would change something simple and it
would break something else.  Just thought I would mention it.
