fetchmail question

Hi all,
 I use fetchmail to get my mail over a ppp link to my office computer.
Both run linux. Problem: I cannot start fetchmail from the ip-up.local
script I have to start it manually after the the link is up. The error
message is "not the owner". How can I solve this?
