I tried to send the following to the [EMAIL PROTECTED]
<mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> , and it came back to me saying no!
why was that? But I hope I reworded my problem better for my situation that
I have... I did buy RedHat 6.1 deluxe, but do not want to start the service
yet until I have one day free that redhat tech support is free to get that
system working and to get my soon to be new laptop working (I think there is
where I will have more trouble...) but if anyone has any suggestions that
would help me with this situation, please tell me. I am trying my best to
replace windows or any microsoft product on my system and have it legal once
again (I don't have windows on that system anymore)
I have a problem with the install of 6.1 RedHat. Within the GUI interface,
the font is shown as black block, so it is not readable. If I do the
install in text mode, and do a workstation install, when the configuration
of Xwindows occurs, it continually does the same thing that the gui
interface did. I tried to send commands to start X with a different video
mode in the gui install, but no luck there neither. The stats on my
computer. Windows said that my video is SiS 5597/5598 and linux probe said
it is a SiS 5598. And the monitor is Gateway Vivitron 15. But when it tries
to install the x interface, it errors out and then not work. I have a Intel
Pentium MMX 200 (wanting to upgrade to AMD K6II 300 shortly) and a generic
mouse on serial 1, 2 button (which is not working within linux neither). I
have had 5.1 on this system before, but never got the NIC working neither
(Wake On LAN 10/100 Fast Ethernet PCI Adapter, IRQ 9 but the range in
windows for memory is FFADE000 - FFADEFFF) 2 hard drives, 2926MB and
1040MB, wanting to partiton as follows.
Hda1 - /boot -16MB
Hda? - swap - 64MB
Hda? - / - rest of the HDD
Hdb1 - /dos or /windows, which ever WINE needs, whole smaller HDD and dos
format (if I can rid the dos format, could you tell me so I can rid it!)
I have 44MB ram, EDO
Anything else ya need to know?
