I've had problems with adaptec before with it timing out on the scsi
devices, tape drives, cd-roms, etc. Buslogic/Mylex makes a model number
BT-958 that works very well. Buslogic has an actual Linux driver author that
works for them and they are very helpful over the phone if you call them.
