Thanks for your reply Colin!

What do you mean by "System Backup?" do you mean that anyone could use this
program to backup what is on the Palm Pilot?

Also, when you say that it can "upload" memos, do you mean that when you
create a memo on the Palm OS, you can upload that memo to your LINUX OS?
And if so, what program in LINUX reads that memo?

What I want to know is, will Kpilot give the user the opportunity to sync up
with LINUX and some form of address book? Windows CE devices can sync up
with Outlook 98 and so can the Palm OS when syncing with a Windows 9x
operating system. I want to know if I could sync my Palm OS with some form
of address book on LINUX?

Yes, the pilot-link packages do well for system backup, uploading memos,
installing programs, etc.

However, this package doesn't have a nice GUI interface to read your memos,
update your address book, etc. But there is another package, Kpilot, which
does
these things -- although I'm not too fond of it. :( The Kpilot package is a
qt/KDE program.

I just wish 3com would do the right thing and port their sync application to
Linux or Java. I've sent them a nice note, but they ignored it.

If I didn't know perl, I could learn C (I just can't learn C, now that I
know
perl so well. Why would I want to write a 5 line hello-world progran in C
when
I can do it in 1 with perl?)
and if I knew C, I would write the damn thing myself, since it's once of
those
'itches' I have.
