P.S. Here is a summary of the Red Hat List's advice on hard drives:-
- buy IBM; it's expensive but it works
- don't buy Maxtor, it sucks
- buy Maxtor, it's great; avoid Western Digital
- Maxtor tech support sucks, esp. in Germany
- there is too much police activity on the US East coast
