I was wondering if it might not be a routing issue of some kind, since
there are both serial (PPP) and ethernet paths out of the Win9x box.
I've seen the same problem before elsewhere. I never figured out how to
fix it, but didn't have a lot of time, and the problem was a minor one
at best. Since it's at home, I have both the time and motivation to
address it.
Any specific suggestions on how to actually fix the problem?
As far as Ernst Stavro Gate$feld and Micro$pectre go, I've had enough of
them in the past two days to last a lifetime. Suffice to say, nothing
would make me happier than to hear Janet Reno start referring to
GateSfeld as a "cult leader" and his estate as a "compound". I'll even
spring for the marshmallows....

I believe this is a Windoz issue. If you want to eliminate the dial-out
box on the W98 box, you will need to fix it there. Look in the network
setup of the Windoz control panel. You probably have to diddle with the
dial-up network stuff as well. Maybe you can get the question answered
by MicroSloth customer support. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Seriously
though, I have had to fix this problem myself, and did the above changes
on the Winbox to fix this.
