OK, I've had nothing but trouble with monitors in RH 5.2. Now , with RH
6.1, same thing
( is that why RH is not a desktop OS like Microsloth Windoes ? )
It's on an IBM P133, S3 video ( trio 64v+ - at least according to Win 95
and RH).
Monitor is Apple 17" Multiscan. RH 6.1 sees everything OK during install (
I select Generic monitor ),
and Xconfig test works OK ( at least in 8 bit 640x mode), but when it
reboots, I get some
garbage pixels, plus a blank screen next. I tried to bypass Xconfig in
hopes of getting
a command prompt, but no go. I am installing this on an existing win 95
machine
( used Partition magic for Linux partition ), and select GNOME install (
hoping LILO works).
Of course, at the moment, I can't get to win95 ( never mind RH 6.1 yet ).
Any clues ?
