There is a program from PowerQuest (they makers of Partition Magic)
called resize2fs that will grow and shrink ext2 partitions. From what I
understand it will eventually be released under the GPL, but until that
time only those with registered keys to Partition Magic 3.x will be able
to use it.
No, this is not an illusion; resize2fs is a reality. If you want to
read the posting by Theodore Ts'o, one of the Linux FS gurus, search the
linux-kernel archives.
