I'm not sure if the recompile was really necessary 'cause the system
worked even before I did it, and the process was simple... don't let it
scare you off! The most important reason I did it is that the log-in
prompt still said I was running 2.0.32 after I did the RPM upgrade
(this was in spite of the fact that issuing "rpm -q kernel" at the
command line said the kernel was 2.0.34) and I wanted to make absolutely
sure I'd gotten where I wanted to go!
At the very least you ought to do the 2.0.32-3 upgrade 'cause that one
has the modules (check the errata) as separate rpm and then once that's
done you could steel yourself <grin> for the 34. It was really easy...
all over in an hour. If you'd like I can take and put a step by step
on my web page and you can print it out prior to making your changes.
