Does anyone have a tip/tricks that might help me in the future. I don't want to submit things to the this group for normal everyday types of installs (Like WiFi). Every now and then I just wish it would "Just Work" so I can get some real work done and not spend all my time search Google and asking questions to groups like this.

I used to feel like you do. Now what I do is research before I buy a new device. Look for devices that are compatible with linux before you buy. That way you spare yourself the aggravation of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. I bought an Nvidia card because they released linux drivers. A few years ago I bought a US Robotics modem specifically because it's not a winmodem. I always look for products with native linux support first, then, if I can't find one, I'll look for a device that I know is well supported in the open source community. Unfortunatley you are stuck with the hardware you already bought but you can help yourself before you make your next purchase. Good luck, and don't give up!
