I sincerely doubt this would work. Grub by design looks at the /etc/grub.conf and automatically rewrites the mbr as I understand it. When booting I doubt it would work properly if /etc/grub.conf is missing. Of course if someone has a moment and wants to delete their /etc on a TEST computer (reminder.. don't do this on a machine you care about) then perhaps they could post it here :-)
BTW, if I was to setup a machine that was not running Linux then I would perhaps use some other boot manager such as Symantec's boot manager or perhaps PowerQuest's products. If a free boot manager is required then go with LILO. If just running Windows then why use a boot manager at all? I don't get it :-) -- Linux: Telling Microsoft where to go since 1991 -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
