At the risk of starting a flame war here, I can't really understand the thinking behind the mention about "shoot him/herself" below. Yes, Linux is better than Window$, but that is no reason to post a reply like that. It could be that the person has tried Linux, can't get their head round it and decided that they prefer using M$ software. Linux isn't exactly easy to understand if something goes wrong. It could also be that the company he was working for tried Linux but decided (after some 'incentives' to go with M$. If the company policy is for Micro$oft products, then having Linux on the computer could a be a disciplinary offence, which is why he's deleting it.
There are any number of reasons why he/she (sorry) would want to delete Linux (my wife doesn't like it, but it's staying for the moment! ;-) ) so simply saying (in effect) "you must be stupid to want Window$" is not going to help promote the Linux cause at all. At the end of the day, it is all down to personal preference and the depths (or lack of them) of your / your company's wallet. Just my 2p. Andy -----Original Message----- From: Reuben D. Seems like a problem with Winblows XP installer. I don't see any relevant of this in Linux maling-list. Why don't you try to ask this in WinXP mailing-list (if such exists)? I refuse to help anyone install Winblows. That's like showing someone how to shoot him/herself. <rant> I am confused. People having problem with installing Winblows ask question in this list *just because* the machine has Linux in it before. Try asking question on how to install dual boot Win+Linux on a machine that only has Winblows before in a Win mailing-list or even MickeySoft tech support...and see what kind of answer you get.... </rant> RDB -- Reuben D.
