I use mkisofs+dvdrecord from almost one year without problems. Here's the link where I've learnt to use it: http://dvd.chevelless230.com/ (sorry, forgotten link in previous answer). The only difference is that you don't need anymore the beta version of mkisofs they talk about because the last versions support -dvd-video option.
