If it could be useful for you, I've never used cdrecord-ProDVD but I find dvdrecord a 'must'. I use mkisofs+dvdrecord from almost one year without problems. Here's the link where I've learnt to use it. The only difference is that you don't need anymore the beta version of mkisofs they talk about because the last versions support -dvd-video option.
