But seriously, I HAVE to ask, why do you have two? What is the point?
One (SB Live!) Has a built in DSP, is SoundFont (midi) Compatible, and
works better with old software (fasttracker). The other (Audiophile USB)
has superior quality recording and playback capabilities.
I plug them both in a mixer (Behringer Eurorack UB802) to playback record from each other (softsynth) and also to record instruments (guitar, bass) in one sound card while using the other to listen to a drum track (metronome) in a set of headphones.
Duh!
Your snide comment didn't solve my problem, however... any other insight you'd like to bring to the discussion?
I'll try and find out for you. Although I think your chances are slim. I actually do have customers who use their PC as studio quality recording devices. I had to supply them with special cases with quiet fans, almost sound proof cabinets with adequate cooling to put them in etc.
Now, from memory, they use only ONE card, a Yamaha something or other which they had to import into Australia here, and that card came with everything they needed including the super high KHz playback and recording, DSP etc.
Fact is, I don't know what the true specs are, as I've never even seen one, but hey, I can only ask right?
I also think none of them use Linux as their recording platform, but I'm SURE they can tell me where to get the info on Linux and your requirements, as they are very apt in that kind of thing.
I'll e-mail them today and hopefully have something non-snide for you shortly. With a bit of luck we'll find out KDE or Gnome or whatever you're using can actually handle two sound cards, unless someone else chimes in and say they've actually done it and had it running.
I'll get back to you.
P.S. If you have an answer for this one, could you e-mail me direct so as not to clog the list? FastTracker brought back good memories, and I've found 2 and 3 beta on the fastracker 2 web-site, but where did you get the Linux version?
Regards, Ed.
