But it's true. Try to install 8 in less than 64MB and the install will fail, even in text mode. Take my word on this. > and the installed has not improved *that* much since as to warrant the > extra horsepower required, IMO. Also makes sense if you're targeting a larger crowd of newbies who need their hand held for every mouse click of the install. More friendly = more resources. That much has held true for as long as I can remember, which goes back as far as last weekend. I think that was last weekend, anyway... > [...] > > Running 8.0 on a P133 64MB as a firewall. > > Good to know that's still possible. I suspect I could drop it down to a 486/66 and do okay (CPU utilization never went over 15% on the P100, even with all the bandwidth being consumed on our DSL). Of course, I don't think newer versions of RH support anything less than a Pentium these days... but hey, when you can get a P166 for $20, why skimp ;-) Regards, -- Cliff Wells, Software Engineer Logiplex Corporation (www.logiplex.net) (503) 978-6726 x308 (800) 735-0555 x308 -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
