I'm running RHL 7.3 on a P166MMX laptop with 64MB, with X (Window Maker) - and it runs just fine. Even plays OGG, using xmms. As for resources needed for graphical use, I suppose, RH have the resource hog GNOME in mind (which means you can get by with less if you dump GNOME), but for text mode?!
