The problem right now is fewer jobs for more people. The big bust left a lot of IT folk out of work. I have over 8 years of solid network and systems admin experience from Netware, NT/2000, UNIX, and Linux and I can't find a job either. Either people are looking for someone who can do everything for peanuts, or they want someone very specialized. Employers can be more picky now. They can get someone with a lot of experience and talent for next to nothing. However, even if you're willing to make a lot less (and I am), they are often scared of hiring someone like me lest I bolt on the next higher paying job.
As for the certs, having them can't hurt in the long run. Just don't expect someone to hand you a job for it. That being said, though, I have much more respect for an RHCE than an MCSE. <<JAV>> On Wed, 2003-03-19 at 19:35, Gene Yoo wrote: > David Busby wrote: > > man resume > > this is so wrong :) yes i have a smile on my face also... i > think in general, all job market is pretty bad right now. i > don't care how many certs you may have, the bottom line is > the job market is bloated. if the original poster is really > serious about finding a job, i would try to find some local > linux user groups and start posting it there. there are > numerous article out there that dicuss *highly skilled > layoff employees that is working for nothing just so that > they don't have any "air gap" in their work experience. > > gene > -- > <<gyoo [at] attbi [dot] com>> > > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- > Hash: SHA1 > > > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- > Version: GnuPG v1.2.0 (GNU/Linux) > > iQCUAwUBPhxERRxoVYCzmrKXAQJK5gP3Y7CTsFyKpEz2p5W4GWI9+qSm+kWfdJ0R > xNlma0Ma9rAL/OBJcZMo5IXyXas+3Edogbv4Al6dIf8lot1WS0Iaxxl/cg2f7gf+ > otf7LfNpZDE/6OzR7A1qN6baPMLSjGzywwQWMfSVuWWb6kGQxMsA13Kn68G7Ozxs > 5CODZqUPyg== > =AolA > -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- > > > > -- > redhat-list mailing list > unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
