I'm assuming your using Gnome as you X-system and using the GUI Network
configuration.

Change the Hostname on the DNS tab of Network Config and also make sure
you add an entry for you new host in the hosts tab and add a valid IP
for it otherwise Sendmail and other programs that rely on localhost
information will timeout looking for DNS information. Also make sure you
have left the 127.0.0.1 Localhost.localdomain Localhost entries in.

all this can as previously said be done from /etc/sysconfig/network and
/etc/hosts but if you don't fancy editing files this may make your life
easier.
