I hate to cross post but I am really up a creek with this server and am quickly running out of options. Could you all take a look through this email and see if anything catches your eye?

Subject: Tyan S2469UGN with onboard AIC7902 and Redhat 8.0

How to stat this question?

System Layout:
Motherboard: Tyan S2469 Thunder K7X Pro with dual onboard Adapted AIC7902 SCSI controllers
BIOS Revision: 1.01
Add in PCI Cards: 1 Qlogic 2200a Fiber CHannel Controller
Drives Attach to SCSI: 4 Seagate ST1916WC 3.5 inch full height SCSI drives
AIC7902 drivers: aic79xx-1.1.0-athlon-rh80.img.gz
Computer Case: 2U ATX case with dual 400 watt power supplies

There is nothing else actually attached to this system. And for right now there is nothing plugged in to the Qlogic 2200 card

I have pretty much exhausted the resources through Tyan. Even their linux "guru" says that is should be a seamless install after tying in linux dd at the install prompt.

On install when I get to disk druid or fdisk or auto partition the system has a tendancy to hang (about 75%) of the time. I have tried going in and using third party drivers for the Qlogic card and this made no difference. I have also tried removing the Qlogic card. The Hard Drives have been lowleved on another system with an Adaptec 2940UW and they test good. The AIC7902 SCSI bios tests the drive as good and has no problems lowleveling them (although it does take a little longer (about 10 minutes per drive longer)). I have done everything I can think of from replacing the hard drives with known good drives, to lowleveling all of them on the actual system itself. I can think of no other reason that the system would be hanging at this point.

I have also tried to install redhat 7.2 on these systems and the drivers that tyan provided for 7.2 do not work at all. There is some error in the driver source around line 6253. I initially thought it may be a driver issue and that is still a likely scenario but since I really have no other choice than to use redhat on this system I am pretty much backed up against a way. Has anyone out there had any experience with these boards and if so how did they work. Were there any tweaks that you had to do to get the system stable? Are there known bugs that I just have not been able to ferret out anywhere on the net? Any help or input would be greatly appreciated.
