My guess is it's in your AT commands. I use a Zoom external 33.6 that
wouldn't hangup properly. It would drop the line but, wouldn't reset
itself using the normal modem reset string. I emailed Zoom about it and
they sent some suggestions. I enteredthe strings one by one unbtil I
found one that worked, then wrote it into NVRAM and have never had a
problem since.
I can't be more specific as it was a long time ago on an Amiga that I no
longer use and have used it through 'Doze and now Linux.
Maybe with an idea of the modem type someone could offer a command
solution. Or, possibly writing to the manufacturer like I did would
help.
